Take Action - Be an Abolitionist
OPTIONAL for Extra Credit:
1. Write a letter to be sent to our state or national representatives concerning Child Labor Laws. Use some statistics that we researched today. Explain why you feel that there should be stricter laws on those who practice child slavery and businesses who use child slavery to build their products. Once your letter is complete you can turn it in for review and corrections. After the letter has been corrected, you will receive extra credit points.
2. Write a letter to your favorite business encouraging them to not use child labor in the production of their goods. Explain why you feel so strongly about this. Once your letter is complete you can turn it in for review and corrections. After the letter has been corrected, you will receive extra credit points.
3. With your parents permission, your letter can then be sent to our representives or the company of your choice. You may only have one voice, but if several voices ban together, it will make a difference!
Sample Letter --- Do not copy this, only for example purposes:
Dear (Enter the Company's Name)
I like your company and I'd love to keep buying your stuff. That's why I'm writing to you about modern-day slavery in many supply chains.
There are over 27 million slaves worldwide mining, farming, catching, and manufacturing the products I buy.
I'm asking you to join me in tracing my money all the way back to the people that most need its influence.
I'm asking you to join me by independently assessing your supply chains for forced labor.
We all want to live in a Free World.
Thank you,
